The last couple of weeks on my way to work I’ve noticed crews lining up equipment for running cable. After the storm I just assumed it was power related. Then a few days ago the spools if big orange conduit showed up and they started burying it. It looked just like the conduit AT&T used to run for our digital lines at my old job. Today on my way back from lunch I stopped and asked one of the guys what they were running, and he confirmed my suspicion. They’re running the conduit for fiber! 🙂 They’ve already T’d it off to run down the line that goes behind my street too.

They’re working on Red Oak near Clearfield right now. Crossing my fingers this is for Fios, but I can’t imagine any other reason why they’d be running fiber smack in the middle of a residential area.

For those of you that aren’t huge nerds and don’t know what Fios is…

See, that I wouldn’t get very excited about because that just means it could still be years before they actually get into all the little neighborhoods. What I was surprised about was to see them right in the middle of a residential area, no where near any major roads.

That’s pretty much where they are digging.

Yes it’s FIOS, they’ve been running the line up and down the 290 since August.

IT will probably be next summer before they start officially rolling it out, and that’s assuming they stay on schedule :meh:

I knew I should have posted up sooner telling all…

I live by Red Oak and Cottonwood. I knew they were running it two weeks ago ☹

Sorry for keeping you guessing, living in the same neighborhood. But, don’t get all excited too soon…

It wont be up for a little while however, as the main relays havent reached the area. They want to be able to connect the area within 6-9 months depending on weather. But, we will be prepared when they do! So, thats good news 🙂

Broken dreams and promises. You know how many times they’ve pushed the date back? 😢

Well, I’d rather see them push the timeframe back and make sure it’s ready to go before releasing it, as opposed to Time Warner that just makes changes when ever they feel like it constantly breaking stuff.

As long as you are comfortable with that. Just so you know, we’re riding an almost 2 year “setback”. :meh:
