> Does it really matter what the dyno numbers were? Isn’t a dyno mainly a tuning tool? There is no 2 dynos that are going to read the same even if they are the same model. There are just too many variables. I also like how some people in this thread think that running low 9s or high 8s at 160mph is a simple task. Driver skill and a properly setup car are key to a fast time no matter what kind of power your making. Tire selection, alignment, how you launch the car, etc. are only some of the basic things you need to think about if your trying to run respectable times especially with those power levels. anyways…good job jay/steve/garrett. Hope you run some good times.

I do agree that a dyno is a tuning tool. As part of that tool you should be able to publish final results in the form of a dyno sheet and ideally back it up with some real world performance to certify your results. It also matters because this thing isn’t 5 or 10% off, its WAYYY off. Like 150-200whp off. Again I agree a dyno is a tuning tool but it is also a money maker. When your equipment is claiming higher values that competitors you get more business and that isn’t fair. When the numbers aren’t even close to living up to the hype, we have a problem. Another issue is that these elevated numbers almost always (but not every time) involve a car that J&S has tuned. Thus it could be viewed that they are doing it on purpose to garner buisness.

I agree that netting a good ET on a 710 whp car is difficult. Two issues however. This car is realistically netting 500whp give or take so traction won’t be a huge issue. Also trap speeds tend to stay about the same even with massive amounts of tire slip. In many cases more tire spin can actually increase trap speed. In the power category we are dealing with in an AWD car tire slip will increase trap speed. If this car genuinely puts down 710whp on a mustang dyno then it will have no issues trapping 155-165mph in full weight form. If it is more of a ~500whp car then you will see a high 120mph trap out of it, which is what I’m sure we will see if it ever makes it to the track. Speaking of the track, I’m sure this car will never produce any slips just as we have seen it won’t produce any dyno printouts. And not that we can believe them now, with over 4 days to photoshop something up it should be taken as a grain of salt.
