# floor pan rubber lining removal

hey guys
have any of you had experience with removing the floor lining attached to the floor pan.
its this rubberized plastic material that is adheired to the bottom of your interior
i want to rip that stuff out since i have the car stripped down
so far people have mentioned
heat gun
and blow torch
do you guys know of any other possibilities?

I actually took mine off in the winter when it was cold out. Used a gasket scraper and a hammer. The cold tempertures made it really brittle and it just cracked off in nice big chunks.

dry ice would work too.

I used a chisel and a light hammer…
but yeah, the cold/dry ice meathod would be best…

i used a heat gun and a chisel and it worked fine. thx guys
not too many fumes either
i put the material all in a bucket afterwards and it weighed a good 15lb. i’m giong to continue tomorrow by removing more of it from my trunk as well as from my rear seats
so do you hear a lot more of whats giong on underneath the car afterwards or what?

depends on if you leave the car gutted or not. i put my rear seats back in and just left the trunk gutted…there wasnt really that much difference

You can easily make it yourself.
1. Just buy a bag of ice from a gas station or grocery store.
2. Find a baking tray of some sort.
3. Put the ice on the baking tray and spread them out evenly.
4. Put the tray out in the sun to dry.

for you guys that did remove the stuff…why did you do it? weight savings? was it negligible? what?
