Just your taste…

I grew up in a house with HW stairs, never had an issue. Perhaps some yoga will help the people that thunder up the stairs and have a poor sense of balance.

I’m in a similar dilemma with my stairs and hardwood floors. I’m going to just carpet mine though as refinishing the treads is not going to work; they’re too far gone.

As for slipping on hardwoods… Freshly cleaned/waxed/polished hardwoods plus clean socks = slide like a MOFO! Can be fun, but dangerous at the same time. I’ve taken a few hard falls due to this both as a kid and an adult. I remember sliding from one end of my grandparents house to the other down the hallway with hardwood floors.

My dog however is not a fan of hardwood stairs as she took a trip down my parent’s stairs 3-4 times when she was young, and is just now getting to where she’ll do them again.

My grandparents & parents had bare stairs and my sister always fell down them. I can honestly say I’ve never fallen down a flight of stairs. I would be afraid of a dog’s leg snapping in a fall though.

I do tend to like very traditional styles, I almost feel they are regal? IDK lol

Post some pictures when you get done!
