Published February 13, 2008 01:07 pm - Plattsburgh man arrested for allegedly possessing two stolen trucks
Felony arrest
PLATTSBURGH – State Police are continuing to investigate a local man after he was allegedly caught with two trucks that were reported stolen from a local dealership in 2006.
Plattsburgh-based State Police investigators said Austin B. Jewell was arrested last week after an insurance agent contacted authorities about a Ford F-250 pickup that had been salvaged in Ohio but was currently registered in New York.
While investigating the tip, police discovered that Jewell allegedly possessed two Ford F-350 trucks that were stolen from Riley Ford more than a year ago.
The trucks are valued at $90,000 in total.
The Butler Road resident is also accused of possessing numerous counterfeit vehicle-inspection stickers.
The 28-year-old was charged with second-degree criminal possession of stolen property and second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument and was arraigned in the Town of Beekmantown Court.
He was released from the Clinton County Jail on $2,500 bail shortly after his Feb. 8 arrest.
Officials said his arrest was the result of a joint investigation by local authorities, the State Police’s Albany-based Auto Theft Unit and the Department of Motor Vehicles.

the trucks were stolen in 06, then apparently they were salvaged in ohio, only to be turned up in ny 2 years later…
something is weird in this whole situation.

If your going to steal a vehicle which is a completely stupid idea to begin with, make sure that thing is going to be COMPLETELY stripped down and sold off
