I pretty sure you can get away with it, as long as you measure you points right from the oem places to make sure all you specs are correct and you will have to brace the rest of the chassis well. I still would not do this or recommend it. One if you bought a rotton 240 and expect to do this and pass safety your wrong as jedi already said. Your better off sandblasting and getting the area repaired.
