I use a chenile mitt, meguires gold class premium car wash (or a high quality gel type wash with sheeting action), and dry it with a water sprite (simulated chamois - this thing is amazing how much water it holds). I dont really wax it often, either. Sometimes only once a year.
About 80% of my Black paint is 17 years old (both sides of my truck are original paint). This is pretty much how it has been treated since I bought it in 1991.

Wash it and dry it following the way the wind would blow across the car when you drive it. That way any scratches that may happen will be in the way that you don’t look across the vehicle. Should help with swirls… Maybe someone can verify that.
I’m hoping to clean the car up and cruise down for a little bit.
