If its just a broken belt and crashed valves/pistons this motor will still work, its just not a drop in deal. The block and head are all that matters. Depending on the head on the passat the only real difference is VVT or not, and you can swap that to either eithout issue. You would be swapping everything though; exhaust and intake manifolds, valve covers maybe, accessories, plumbing stuff but the heart of it is the same longi vs transverse. Dropped a valve scored the top of the piston. So worst case rebuild head and replace piston but I’d rather drop a running motor in it and be done. Then sell my motor for someone to rebuild. My buddies got a inquire up at Jbap were waiting to here back. Just seen this and thought I’d look into it. Keep the money in the shift family yanno what I mean.
