It is not rocket science. Exactly what I was thinking. If you did that horizontally, both sides would collapse inward at the same speed. How I took this was, by doing it vertically, the bottom was rebounding at the same speed the upper portion was falling, but remaining stretched due to gravity/mass/tension. ---

Right more specifically, every coil has was streched according to how many coils below it were pulling it down. Notice the bottom coils had almost no extention therefore they are not going to spring up magically… against gravity to boot. ---
