# Gas tank issue

hey guys,

i was wondering if there is any way to patch a leaky gas tank… even something temperary untill i have enough money to buy a new one…

ya there is. they sell it at crappy tire. not sure what its called.

It’s a tricky one …

Gas Tank Repair Kit

I’ll warn you though, it’s only useful for patching holes in the tank itself, not hardlines or seams.

And honestly swapping the tank is probably easier, depending on where the leak is, and how easily you can get at it.

In my experience, 240s that leak gas are losing it from the hardlines that come out of the sending unit. And they usually have rotten brake lines too. It’s from all the crap that gets kicked up by a rear wheel drive car.

The puddy failed for me using it on the seam where the filler neck meets the tank.

how much do replacement gas tanks go for? including labour? i got rust around where my gas tank cap is…like right around the cap area…inside the rubber circle lining lol…i dont know if this is a bad thing…

Uhm … as in the filler neck (the part you put the gas in)?

Or the body, where it holds the rubber piece around the neck in place?

well right around the hole where the gas goes in…
