# Gear oil/tranny smell

Hey guys I got a funny smell I can’t figure out… It smells basically like fresh tranny oil, which is funny cause S14’s take gear oil… I can only smell it when the car is really hot (while highway driving for a while) and when my window is slightly open (or sunroof)… So if all the widows are open then the rest of the air rushing through the car overpowers the fumes and don’t smell anything… I know that sounds dumb, but it’s true… The smell is definitely outside the car… Anyone ever smell this?? Like I said, it’s basically like a tranny fluid/sulfer-ish smell…

Get underneith it … check for leaks… Could be a drive shaft input seal on the end if the trans… and when ur driving for a while the oil is getting on the drive shaft while its spinning and flinging some oil on the exhaust… take a look tho…
