# gearhead's 2000 UD2000 Rollback

Yes, I am making a thread about this!
My new toy, picked it up last wednesday. Its a 2000 UD2000, 19,5k gvwr, 6 speed, 225hp I-6 turbo diesel, air over hydraulics, jake brake, etc… I’ve always wanted a cabover and this is just about exactly what I want. So far I’ve put about 500 miles on it and it tows fantastic.
My plans are to start going over it, cleaning it up, making it cherry… maybe even some ‘tiltbed esc’ mods… but we’ll see. Dare I give you a taste of the direction I will be headed in:
Its a huge japanese craze called “Dekotora” or decoration truck. if you google it, you get all kind of sick stuff. Also, if anyone has seen the movie Initial D, tward the end, they roll up in a sweet dekotora truck thats hauling the evo.
I’m obviously not going that rediculous, but i want to tastefully express my presence on the road 😃

we have 3 cabover wreckers at work…the ride sucks (i prefer the superduties), but very reliable. hopefully the longer wheelbase makes it less bouncy.

It rides fantastic. The drive from columbus to home was nothing. I held 75mph easy, loaded with the a/c on and still got 12mpg! It will defintly be a trip maker. Though, I guess its not quite as good of a ride as say a 1ton ford or chevy.
This truck has tons of power, unloaded sometime you cant shift it quick enough. I’ll line up against any powerstroke :tounge:

Dear god don’t stick all those lights on it haha.
It would look good a dark color on the cab (Crimson Red) with the chrome wheels and do some chrome on the flat bed, like the rails and up the bar that the lioghts mount too.

I never thought about a red color… i was thinking about a Cobalt Blue color. Turdteg has Samba Green Pearl sitting around at his shop, that is definitly a top 3!
I want to acid wash the whole bed and re-do the bulkhead. I’d think about chrome plating down teh side, but dont knwo how well it would hld up. Or, mabye LED strips going down the bed sides 😃
Every light will be LED and I’ll probably get a Hi/Lo HID kit for it with some kinda amber fogs… gawd im a ricer.
