# GM's new Performance Engine Lineup

I’d actually have to say that Dave Buschur pretty much started everything as far as high performance sport compacts go. He was the first 4cyl into the 13’s, 12s, 11s, 10s, 9s, 8s and maybe 7’s. Although, i think he was into turbo buicks, and decided to fuck with his talon. So I guess the GN did it by proxy.

don’t forget also. in 1984-1986. Ford made the Mustang SVO.
which is a 2.3L 4cyl with a Garrett T25, stock from the factory. Ran low 15’s stock, and was not hard to get into the 13’s. There’s plenty of them now running in the 10’s

considering that your pinnacle of performance cars in the early to mid 80s, was the Corvette cranking out an amazing 190hp. Nothing really was a popular way of HP.

You are forgetting the ZR-1 in there. There are still few cars that are able to keep up with it. Even the Vipers of the same time are unable to keep up with them above 120 mph.
And why the fuck is GM offering the Z06 with an auto? That aint right son, that aint right.

i’m not saying i doubt you. but on corvette forums i am on, there isn’t any solid facts of what the LS7 specs are (hp-wise). are these numbers speculation?

dave buschur wasn’t the one who started the craze and also wasn’t the first 4cyl go to that fast either…but jay you gotta remember that the 4 cyl import craze was goin on over there LONG before the 80’s over here…turbo cars have been around and popular over there through the 70’s when everybody was big motor crazy over here they were going small cars small motors, decent power. carrol shelby had the glhs and the turbo chargers goin on from the early 80s and the turbo dodge guys were fast long before the dsm guys were, most of what us dsmer’s have came from the turbo dodge guys in the early 80s.

so you read it in a magazine? gus was in the 12’s and then the 10s with his turbo dodges long before buschur, he also had a 12s minivan before most of the dsm crowd could hit the 12’s…not only that sean glazer was the first into the 8s bracket and he did it in an awd unibody platform

also i dont’ think buschur was the 1st into the 7second arena either, i believe rau went into the 7s before buschur did…course buschur wrecked the car 2 years ago and hasn’t raced it since.

lol actually i just looked up rau’s list of dates/wins and he was beating buschur at his own shootout in 98…the awd was in the 9s bracket in 99, i know glazer went in the 8s range around 99/00…buschur gets more “street credit” cuz he puts his damn nose everywhere
