# Good places for swimming/cliff jumping/hiking around albany?

Where do you guys usually go to do some swimming, jumping etc? Ive been to Hadley and 9 corners lake, but those are both about an hour away. Im sure theres gotta be some closer spots…

Frenchs Hollow off rt 20 in altamont, not THAT high of a jump down, but not bad either… its pretty fun.

christmans sanctuary in duanesburg, not a high cliff but pretty nice spot. also the schoharie creek in burtonsville has a decent cliff and last time i was there was a rope swing, although the creek has been pretty dangerous lately. both spots ~30-40 min west of albany

Corinth off Exit 16. It’s the run off into the Sacandaga. There’s an extremely high bridge you can take the leap of faith off of and a bunch of cliffs you can also jump off of too. If I remember last time too, there was a rope swing.
Northwest Bay on Lake George. You can only get to it by boat, it’s in a little cove and there’s a bunch of spots on it where you can jump off of as well.
If you try using google, I know there was a website dedicated to a bunch of cliff jumping spots in the northeast.

thanks for the tips guys. Yea it doesnt have to be a crazy spot, most of the jumps at 9 corners are only like 10-15ft but its gorgeous up there and the water is nice and clean.

My friends used to go to a place called “the star”. I never jumped, so i’d just go, hang out on the cliffs and drank some beers. Seemed like a pretty fun place. I wanna say it was in schaghticoke on rt 40 or something like that right before ya get into the town

Wintergreen Park in Canajoharie has a 25-30 foot waterfall you can jump off, but I havent been there in 6 or 7 years at least so I dont know about the legal status of it anymore.
