# GoPro releases the HD Hero 3 Cameras !! Available at STM!

GoPro has just released their GoPro HD Hero 3 ! I was just informed they were releasing these yesterday, and they just came out with the press release and specs on them at 12:01 last night!
They are changing things up abit, but it is creating more choices depending on the features you are looking for!
They now have 3 Editions of the HD Hero 3. **Black, Silver, and White!**

The new Hero 3 Black edition is 2X Smaller, 2X Faster, and 2X more powerful. They have more Video options with better video quality. They also now have better audio quality and better wind noise reduction on top of that, and 2X Better low light performance!
Black Edition is the top Tier Model. MSRP is $399! This has Built in WiFi+Wifi Remote so you do not need to purchase an additional WiFi Remote like you would for the Hero 2 Camera or White and Silver editions. This adds a nice $80 value to the Camera along with all of the other features. It really only makes the HD Hero 3 Black edition cost $20 more over the older Hero 2s or Silver addition if you wanted the WiFi features!

That is a sweet video but SOOOOO much of that is post processing. They had a hero 2 video that was equally as awesome. If you want to make a badass vid with a gopro, you better know your way around sony Vegas.

I see your point, but if you think about it, it’s just as misleading as most other product promo videos. I just love the video. 🙂

Right. Just don’t expect to slam a camera on your head and have an awesome video. In fact, a lot of that footage looked like it was recorded on a mini helicopter or the edited out the pole.

+1 to newman. My videos look like shit. Basic auto-correct functionality in iMovie does clean them up decently, though.
The flat lense should help clean up the blurriness of underwater videos though.

lol, I love how many people buy these and think the videos are going to be like the promo. Obviously you know, these videos are put together buy guys that are pro’s with the technology and the software for editing. Also someone that probably spent hours upon hours putting this together.

That said I really want to buy 3 of them. The only option in my opinion is the black edition…
One of my favorite things to use gopros for is pictures, and the burst mode of the hero 3 fucking rules. 30FPS @ 12MP? Insane. Second, the Hero 2 can only record 120fps for slow motion in WVGA mode… the hero3 can do it in 720p… That’s enough of a reason for me…
Downsides are media is now micro SD, so the two 64 gig SD cards I have are now obsolete.
STM: do you sell the black edition w/o the remote? I already have one.

As far as we know they do not offer it without the remote. I’m sorry, but if i find out anything different I will let you know!

Side note, my friend Mike Escamilla is a GoPro athlete and this weekend I got to play with a Hero3. It’s pretty awesome. The best part is the burst mode for sure. 30 pics in 3 seconds. Awesome. Here are some of the shots.
They’re all pretty edited (not by me) and I received them via text, so I’m not sure what the full res versions looked like.
