Welp, finally got a ticket for my window tint in the BMW. Took them 7 months. When i was pulled over, the cop wrote me for 19% on my REAR passenger windows, and a second ticket of 19% on my front passenger windows which is illegal, i don’t have a problem paying this. Problem is on the ticket, he wrote my old car on both tickets. i have not owned the car since nov 17, 2011; A 1990 rx7. I asked the prosecutor to drop the rear passenger window ticket because the rx7 is a 2dr car and does not have rear windows. He said it doesn’t matter what vehicle is on the ticket, or how many windows it has whatever the cop wrote is what i get. So i’m taking it to trial because i don’t believe is should pay double for the officers mistake. I spoke to my lawyer prior told me going to trial is my best bet, because i can easily prove that i was driving a 2004 bmw, and NOT a 1990 rx7 which would actually get both tickets dropped simultaneously because a 2dr car does not have rear windows. Basically taking advantage of the cops mistake. (lawyers are glorious advantage taking assholes) Now here is the tricky part, i lost my bill of sale for the rx7… i still have the vin number and was wondering if the DMV can show ME when / who the car was registered to i have the guys phone number but it has been disconnected so calling him is out of the question ---

How did the cop even know you had an RX7? Its not like its even close to make that kind of mistake. E46 BMWs look generations apart from RX-7s. ---

So your going to waste a whole night at court and you already involved your lawyer on a tint ticket? :lol: Why not just pay it and move on? ---

So. You got a ticket for illegal tint on BMW. Cop writes down RX7 (guessing you transfered plates and he didn’t double check the new reg) And you expect the ticket to get dropped? Yeah, good luck with that. You sure are something. ---

Agree with you on the lawyer part but why do you need to prove info. on the wrong car? It’s the officer’s duty to write the correct information on the ticket. If the judge asks if you still own the car, just say no. The plate should match the car for which it was written. Seems like a slam dunk, and if you think the prosecutor is going to help you, guess again. ---

I’m going to lol when he asks was the car you were driving at the time have tints regardless of model(written on ticket) and you still have to pay. ---

Having documentation saying i don’t own the car anymore, and that its registered to the new owner just helps me out even more. I think murderers have been set free for lesser technicalities. Cop still has to show up first. You didn’t mention where this was. ---

Hamburg, guy was really nice about it, oh and before this goes any further i have tried to get ahold of the officer before i even went to court about this and couldn’t… i walked into the station 3 separate times looking for him and asking for his card. and before this gets into a i hate cops thread, i don’t hate them, i just don’t like the ones who try to take advantage of the uniformed. ---

Your lawyer, means jack shit unless he was on the OJ’s defense team. My aunt got a ticket about 7 years ago, I believe a moving violation of some sort. The cop wrote completely wrong vehicle info on the ticket, and the judge actually got pissed at the cop and threw the ticket out. She had just went to court to plea down like usual, and didn’t even expect it to get tossed for that reason. I can’t remember what town it was in. Of course, with the way the courts work, I imagine no two are alike when it comes to procedure on stuff like that. They all kind of make their own rules. ---
