So not even a step but an uneven one at that… yeah, that’s not too great. Must have had an apprentice on the controls… Post some pics of it when you get it back, I am interested to see how it compares.[/quote]

Yea I’ll have pics later tonight.

The step wasn’t what caught my eye, it was the bad cutting job. Notice the “swirl” marks, it looks as though you could run your finger accross them and feel a bit of a washboard. This is usually caused by bad carbide tips in the fly cutter (I hope he is using carbide), or just spinning the rotator too fast. I hope he spent a little more time on it today.

You should really almost see your reflection in it, or atleast a basic sillouette.

Ok, my bro brought the flywheel home.

I wanna bring it in the house but it’s gonna rust up like a whore.

Should I put something on it so it doesn’t rust up like a bitch?

Just wipe off the moisture ass soon as it appears.

Try putting it on one of your vents to warm up faster.

</div>

Apply a light coat of oil on the flywheel surface. Then clean it off nicely with some brake cleaner before installing the FD and PP.

Re-machined again

The step is now even. Although the swirl marks are there, it looks better
then before at least. :dunno:

Oh well, whatever the case, this is what’s going in the car. I’m prepared
for the concequences.

</div>

See, now those pics look exactly the same as the first ones… hard to tell if there is a step there based on just the pics is my point. As long as you can’t FEEL the machining marks it makes no real difference. Sure, smoother is better I suppose, but it’s a stock application not a 1000hp drag car.

</div>

Most flywheels that come back from the machine shop look like that. I haven’t had any problems with my clutch.

You don’t want it too smooth anyways. The friction material won’t clamp, causing too much slippage. That may create unwanted heat spots.

</div>

The step is still there. But it’s even all around as opposed to before where it wasn’t.

The step si there in the contact surface and outside surface.

You can’t feel those swirls.

</div>

why does it look sooo rough? Its like the cutting bit used was very coarse or the speed was way too low or something. I’m not a machinist by any means but if you look at jantoses vs yours yours looks like its gonna rape someones mom where as jantos’ looks like its as smooth as a babys bottom (most likely similar to the bottoms jantos touches on various occassions)

It looks rough but it isn’t. It’s smooth.

Whatever the case, this is going in the car.
