# grand am tranny

the other day my tranny blew up…1st,3rd,5th work but 2nd, 4th and reverse dont! i need a new tranny and maybe a new clutch…it stunk really bad but still grabs in the 3 gears that work. my question is…i have a 2.4l twin cam 5 speed transmission…is it the same they use on the sunfires and the cavalier z28s? does anyone have one?!? thanks my eclipse sitn done and now i am forced to ride a bike! lol

Quik used one from an Acheiva. He had a 2.4L Cavy.
Send him a pm, he got it dirt cheap from a whole sale warehouse in ohio.

it was from an achevia. i got it at a place up in arkon. i cant think of the name off top of my head. like tripec?

so all twin cam 2.4l gm motors have the same tranny and are interchangeable?

no, the tranny that was used in my car was replaced in 00 for the Jbodys.

If you have a 96 GA, then you need the 96-99 isuzu tranny. Its found in any jbody or nbody with the 2.4L from 96-98 and some 99s (depending on what model)
