For reference, newegg’s cheapest on 1TB is 109. This drive is 1.5TB, was a no-brainer for me.

.11s are cheap as dirt now that the large .12s are coming out.

These drives suck almost all around.
Theyre unreliable, and failed to deliver up to the expectations. The .12 are supposed to be much better.

That is an excellent deal for a 1.5TB drive but, like the previous poster said, Seagate is currently battling some bad press for failing 1TB drives and has attempted to sweep the issue under the rug. Be forewarned.

I understand there is an issue with the write buffer failing with linux/mac. There has been new firmware issued to remedy the issue. Drive should be alright after that I would think.

What is meant by .11 and .12?
I was looking at a Western Digital Green 1TB drive the other day.
Looking to replace my two drive setup…

the .11 and .12 refers to the “generation” of the drive if you will.
My seagate is the 1.5TB 7200.11 drive. They have the 7200.11 in many different sizes. The 7200.12 drives are the newer models/generations.
