exactly…

and i never claimed the SVT was fast at the strip…its not a drag car at all…the GTP is more of a straight line racer.

well if you read what i said…i said it was up NEAR…not the same as.

and i know a modded svt up close to a full g

but thats some the GTP will never see…the brand new one is at like .83g or something and its way better then the previous body style…which was lower then that.

poor responce baby blue.

If you want to start talking skid pad, my all-trac celica STOCK was tested at 0.90g. This was back in 1987!!

next, how do u bring in a z06 when the contestants are an SVT and GTP? I have driven both and I am astonished to why this debate has even started. Like everyone has said, the svt is lighter and more nimble, the gtp is a big fat touring type car with poor domestic design and quality all through it.

also, i see nothing wrong with a FWD car making oversteer. I have tried SO hard to get cars like my accord and such to make good oversteer so to turn-in to corners. when i drove gtp’s, all they do is PLOW into corners with little to no love at the rear while still diving and sloshing through the corners. I’ve driven 2 well set up svt’s that handle amazing for a front heavy v6 fwd 4door. There should be no comparison in the 2… give the pontiac keys back to your grandpa man…

i didnt…showtime brought the Z06 and S2000 in here…quick question, how does reaction time affect ET?

my bad on bringing in the z06 and s2000, but i was just using as a benchmark so you know what .90g is close with
S2000 something like .93
Zo6 = 1g
M3 =.89g
STi & Evo = .88g

Z28=.87g
GTP Comp G = .90g

yeah they upped the handling in the new GTP “comp G” cause that was the big complaint about previous Grand prix model.

here is part of the article written on [pistonheads.com](http://pistonheads.com)

**Fun? No**

Even if you baby the throttle, the Comp G is no hoot to drive. Those of you who know about such things will have already clocked the fact that the Comp G’s weight transfers rearwards under hard acceleration, resulting in an inevitable and dramatic loss of front end grip and control. It’s what the technically-minded call “excessive understeer” and anyone attempting to blast the Comp G around a corner would call “a bad thing”. The Comp G may be relatively safe - the front tyres squeal at the onset of an understeer slide - but it wouldn’t be my first choice for a high-speed romp down an unfamiliar twisty.
Given the firepower lurking in the engine bay and the average American petrolhead’s distaste for anything other than a straight road, even these handling “issues” would be put to one side if the Comp G was cheap. Thirty thousand US dollars says it isn’t. Truth to tell, the only good news is that the top-end Grand Prix is a lame duck. Next year, GM will rebadge and sell the Holden Monaro: a rear-wheel-drive, V8-powered, Australian-made, 2+2 sports sedan with an optional manual gearbox. Sources suggest it will cost only slightly more than a loaded Comp G. The Pontiac GTO will go like Hell and handle like a dream. American onrampaphobics’ salvation is at hand.

No it doesn’t depend on the driver - the svt is a far superior car in the twisties. I don’t care if you are used to driving a sherman tank.

the major diff between the GTP and the Contour is…torque. The Contour has none. I find it to be a lot easier to slide torque through corners than a torqueless high revving motor

but then again thats something neither of you two had in a daily driven sense…at least not in a long time

Yea, torque is definately going to make a difference in handling in a fwd car. :rolleyes:

And there is no need to cut on our cars just because you look like a moron for saying a gtp will outhandle a svt contour. 😃
