Most people use 3G to surf the web…

3G is run by AT&T with tight ties to Apple…

Example…If every Windows PC was on a Microsoft controlled section of the internet Microsoft could easily filter any inbound vulnerabilities.

There are multiple other factors but the risk of a wide spread iphone exploitation is really mitigated by a number of factors.
