> Turbonetics copied all the pre-GT series stuff from Garrett including CHRA’s, seals, bearings, wheels, housings everything, hence why garrett won’t give out spec’s on their turbos that aren’t off the shelf like a basic 60-1 for instance.
>
> second you need to check what kind of bearings you have a 270 which is standard on most journal bearing turbo’s is what is usually provided unless you ask for it…
>
> precision is NOT by any means better then garrett…stop misinforming people! precision uses cheaper housings and their flanges have known to warp due to excessive heat, where as a true Garrett housing will not do this!!!
>
> Precision is cheaper and most housings are used are precision one’s!!! Precision making more power then garrett well that is not turbo based. It’s because precision does this on purpose. If they sell you a .48 a/r it’s really closer to . 50-.52 and hence why they can make more power…it’s all volume based…while with garrett you get what you pay for unless you specify and they custom make you a turbo! (if you are a distributor)
>
> lastly a 50 trim: well no duh you won’t make serious power on it until it reaches about 22psi or so depending on displacement!!! If you ever look at a comp. map of that turbo you will understand that it doesn’ t get into full efficiency until those higher RPM numbers! 25.5psi on a t3t4 50 trim on a GTI made 419whp!

> lastly there are companies like ITS that make nice housings, and use only 360 thrust bearings on most of their turbos! But, you have to remember the only way to get a great deal on a great product is to buy direct IMHO!!!

LOL precision uses garret stuff and I never said they were better than garret I just said they are close in performance, specs, and reliablity

Blah blah blah… dig up all the facts you want.

I made 470 rwhp on 24 psi with a gt30r. It spooled extremely fast and still had crazy top end. Trapping at 129.90mph on a botched run. My motor is very similar to that of the 4g63. I think the gt30r is the perfect match to any 2.0 liter.

If youre going 2.3 liter… i would suggest the gt35r then.

Or just figure out what turbo best fits your needs. Its really not very hard to do the math and figure out what fits your goals. It might take someone a whole 5 minutes to figure everything out so you can read a compressor map and see what works.

actually it is!
but most people aren’t dumb enough to get the non 360 bearing!

actually you did!

> FP is not the end all of turbos at all. precision stuff is way way way way way better. they use better bearings and to be honest I have seen precision stuff make a lot more power than what they are rated for. FP is good but not the best and their new turbo line doesn’t impress me that much. if you want crazy power on a 4 cylinder use the PT71…Jasen Pennmen did over 700whp on that turbo and it isn’t even maxed yet and his car is a street car

specifically right there you stated that precision uses better parts…so I say this is falacy as garrett is the one who makes those parts and precision only modifies housings you dolt!!! so, please stop poluting this thread!!!

what trim and size gt30r eric…please let me know as I am trying to find the right one for my needs! thx… mine is a 1.9L though not 2.0…

usually turbos surge/comp surge due to comp. housings being too small

Thats not needed. His goal is 500 whp on a 2.3 liter. The GT35R with provide good spool up and will make well over 500. I still say he could make 500 on the gt30r. Ecspecially since its a 2.3 liter. That thing would spool quick as fuck. Captain chaos made 505 on a honda 2.0 liter on a gt30R. So the 2.3 should have no problems.

tussey did 496whp on 16psi with a 35R on a 2.36L honda motor

 I didn’t think that was the case. Why is there a diffuser in bigger turbo’s then? Like 1320’s turbo. These are originally applyed to big truck turbo’s (which make there way onto imports). Since the turbo is so big and on a big truck, will constantly run at its maximum pressure, a diffuser is used in the intake side of the compressor to “fool” the turbo into thinking it isn’t surging. Surging usually occurs at full boost in the lower rpm’s when the engine isn’t producing enough efficiency to swallow the huge charge of air the compressor is now making at spool-up. The diffuser allows the air incoming to “diffuse” around the intake port to allow the turbo to what some people call burp off the surge until things get cooking again. You hear big HP, big turbo supra’s do it all the time.

Please feel free to correct me if I am wrong. I am all about the learning process :blue:

listen you sorry excuse for a tree hugger. find me garret turbos makeing 700+whp on street hondas cause I can find at least 4 that are over 700whp and others right around 600whp with precisions not garrets.

this thread sucks. Stroker cant handle/afford/ever build a 500hp motor for his DSM. Get a 20g, make your 350-400hp and be happy.

i was under the impression the definition of compressor surrge was the throttle plate closing when the compressor was still spinning and the air backs up into the compressor housing and has no where to go but back through the blades, that causes them to try and spin backwards but they can’t so the blades usually bend tat that point. (since that’s the definition i got online) diesels dont’ have throttle plates

maybe honda guys but all the turbos from dsm vendors, the dsm pte turbos (on their site) are all 360 if you go and look. the garrett exhaust housing’d turbos are 270 standard

well this turbo can make power for sure. although I personally feel it is a stupid wheel combo:
