# help! People who work security.

So I am going for the 8 hour course tomorrow morning and just wondering what it consists of. Might be a dumb question but just wondering what is going to be taught and so on. Also any places hiring for security?

I worked for US Security when I lived in Buffalo for a summer.
The course was easy, finger printing was the most complicated part of it.

The Armed Security course is a lot harder. More fun though, it’s all shooting based. The 8 hour is a breeze.

Depending on who you take it through, it can last anywhere from 3 hours to 8 hours.
Its really easy and a lot of it is common sense.
I want to take the armored security course eventually just for fun. Haha

Security jobs are 8-9 an hour unarmed. They are easy to get and are boring as hell.

Does anyone know if there are places that hold the 16 hour course in the area? Ive been told sometimes employers offer it but I am not sure if that is the norm

swat in lackawanna, course is easy, test is easy. the guy gives you the answers at the end so its 100% pass even if your completely retarded. not sure who is hiring around buffalo though.

Depends. Most are 10-12 tops for your average firm. Working security for an actual company instead of a security firm is always a better job with higher wages.
Edit: I was offered a job to run the Buffalo branch of Buffalo security. It was $500 a week salary for what would end up being 50+ hours a week of work.

yuck…so you’d be taking home ~400 after taxes for 50+ hours and have to travel to the city every day?

Well, you have to consider that it mostly consists of doing nothing.
But yeah, I was expecting much higher for armed. Though some people would pay for the chance to shoot at people. lol

Exactly. I couldn’t turn that offer down fast enough.

Private security and armed company positions pay well. Sorento, Coke, and other places that hire for themselves pay $15-17.
