I have had the hiccups for two straight days now and I don’t feel them quelling any time soon. It’s so bad my traps and my diaphragm are sore and my abs are actually starting to bulk up like I’ve been doing crunches for two full days straight.

I’ve tried Aleve, Tylenol, alcohol…nothing’s working. Gosh this sucks.

Ok, this is gonna sound really weird, but it has never failed me (except for 1 time in more years than I can remember…and I had beer hiccups). Have someone thats willing to basically “kiss” you do it. They take a deep breath, and you let out all your air…then they blow their air into your mouth. Hold as long as you can, then breathe out slowly. Do it like 3 or 4 times, or til gone. Might take a few. I know it sounds really bizarre, and I swear to god, I am not being sarcastic…it really works.

If it lasts much longer get to a doctor… I know a guy who had hiccups for a few days and went to the doctor…Ended up having a bad liver and had to have a transplant…The hiccups were the only warning sign. He wasn’t sick or anything.

lol im positive. its kinda like giving mouth to mouth…the whole idea is basically “someones good air, replacing your bad air” is what my mommy told me as a kid, LOL

Hmmm did u eat too much on Christmas? …found this on the net…

-Any other practices that might irritate the diaphragm such as eating too much (especially fatty foods) or drinking too much (drunk people hiccup) can make you prone to having hiccups.
-In these instances, your stomach, which sits on top of the diaphragm, is distended or stretched. Because they occur in relation to eating and drinking, hiccups are sometimes thought to be a reflex to protect you from choking.

theres another way to get rid of them too…you get a slice of a lemon, put sugar on it and put bitters on it and suck on it for a sec…then swallow it

I think I may have burnt my esophagus the other night, started to eat some Couscous and it was thermonuclear (temperature) hot. Stuck around for a few seconds, then I felt like I had a burn in my throat for a few days. Then, I indulged a bit in both food and a few beers Christmas day/night. Fried Turkey and Sam Adams Winter Lager. I’m thinking that might have triggered it…

And, actually, the sugar seems to have helped. I’m not feeling the urge to hiccup for now. If it comes back, I’ll try the other methods. Thanks!

Most reliable way to get rid of them is to scare the person. nothing serious, but catch them off-guard and they will disappear. (Don’t recommend for people with heart problems)
