My father and I are gonna have a cabin built down in the Southerntier. We want to hire the Amish but have no clue as to how that works. Do i pay them with cash and they pay their taxes? Is it even legal? Do I buy the supplies? Do I make the blueprints? Are they allowed to use modern tools or even get into my truck to pick them up? Whats the going rate for an Amish worker? Do I drive up to a random Amish house and ask for workers? Basically, how the hell does this process work? ---

As far as I know, they are usually driven around by someone who has a truck, use all their own tools, I believe they can do blueprints as well… I wish I had more info… I’ll ask around though ---

they cant drive, but they can ride in a car or truck with someone non amish driving i remember someone on here posted a pic of a cabin built by amish, cant remember who. maybe they’ll chime in ---

i have property out in stockton and my father is freinds with all of the amish out there. he barters with them constantly. if youd like me to get some names and addresses i can. ---

They can use your modern tools, they just can’t own them. Most likely find someone that had a good experience with someone and use them as a referal ---

The girl that had a cabin built from here was blewbyu. Her’s was built in Birdsall, so maybe she could give you a referral. ---

The Amish built my dad’s barn and have built us cabins before. I can get some info for you if you want.
