# Hole in cat. Will i pass inspection?

I have a 1993 chevy astro van to rock the winter months away in. I haven’t gotten it inspected yet and it has a hole in the cat. I want to know some opinions if it will pass cause if it will i wont bother fixing it, and saving the cash would be nice. Thanks!

Technically yes because it is a 93 and you only have a safety inspection.

93 is only a safety inspection? I do not think that is true…I believe there is a visual inspection on emissions equipment.

Your absolutely right, I was half asleep and my brain was seeing 1983 not 1993 for some reason. There is a visual inspection to ensure that all the pollution control devices are working properly. Also, fyi you can fail for patching a converter if the inspector wants to be an ass because you are not allowed to modify them in any way whatsoever. Your best bet is to find a friendly inspector here on nyspeed to do the inspection.

Valvoline, any of them. It would pass though. It just has to be there, it does not have to work.

A hole in a cat is probably better than no cat… And I know most of those oil change places pass vehicles without cats all the time. They don’t care about emissions. Just as long as there isn’t a check engine light.

it did get me through school =p, i cant count how many times i wished i wasnt alive, then i would just tell myself only x amount longer till sk00ls done, then a black guy would show up and pay cash for everything yay off the books!

Ahh yes, right above the gutter pigs and swamp donkeys. Those were the days.
Faso’s garage on water past the bridge was a solid shop during my time in Fredonia. Greg is a bit of a crackhead but he hooks that shit up. I strongly recommend him.
