I believe this is a honda halfshaft, but I’m unsure as to what model car it may be from. I’m searching around online for some details on this but if the honda gurus here know offhand based on the specs below let me know.

I’ve purchased dozens of different used make/model axles and halfshafts over the past year measure/CAD the components in search of the best source/combination of CV and tripod flanges for use with the kit cars. I’ve come down to using Honda differentials/CV’s/hubs with custom gun-drilled 300M axle shafts to make the appropriate fitments. Honda seems the best of durability, lightness, and availability of all the makes.

Anyway here are the specs from these pieces:

Outer CV(into hub) – 26 spline at 1.050" diameter, max cup diameter 3.485"
Inner tripod(into differential) – 25 spline at 1.012" diameter, max cup diameter 3.275"
Axle shaft – 30 spline at .955" diameter, 17.75" OAL

possibly 1989-91 civic/crx Si. I don’t know the diameters but, they have 26 spline outers and 25 inners.

Hmmm, good to know. Now I have to see/know if the inner tripod of this axle will fit an Integra LS or GSR differential, as I’m planning to use Wavetrack/Quaife differentials in the chain driveline. The larger car uses Quaife gearboxes and parts and isn’t subject to this mess. I was hoping this was an integra axle as the wavetracks are offered for that car.

I was going to use VW/Audi components which would have been nice to use common 28 spline Porsche 930 CV joints and stub axles, and had initially designed all the uprights and bearings assemblies around those parts, however those differentials use a very specific size bearing that’'s not available in a sealed roller ball style from anyone(which I need to use).

Just a big f-ing puzzle trying to work around existing components, but in the long run it will make production far easier. Might have to call Morgan and see if he’s got a used Integra axle kicking around I can buy off him to tear down.

if you go onto autozone’s website, they give the spline count and other dimensions for individual shafts.

It might have been Mike, I can’t honeslty say though. I did pick up one of those axles from JVG that was in your pile, but it’s amongst ~ 20 different axles here 😢

I should have both D and B series in garage. Aka crx and integra.

I might be up there Sunday.

And offtopic but that steering shaft in question before is indeed from MG midget.

Now I’m not familiar with honda parts…would a d-series desol halfshaft fit a civic B16 differential???(same as integraLS according to wavetrac website)

I know thew LS and GSR are different differentials but I’m not exactly sure what the difference is, although I’d make a safe assumption it’s in the diff splines

input/output spline count match that of an EG chassis honda (SOHC OBD1 civic)

They had two different lengths for drivers side and pass. you’d have to find the compressed length to figure out which one.

D-series didn’t have half-shafts. (Except for the bastard child of the d16ZC DOHC motor)

don’t ask me why advance auto thinks that second one has two different weights.

Well looks like this one will not work. Have to go with B series components to use the differential I want

Sooooooo…If anyone has a B series(26/27 spline) axle and possibly a matching B series wheel hub/drive flange they want to sell get ahold of me please. Doesn’t really matter which side the axle is from as I’m going to change the OAL with a custom 300M shaft from TCS.

Holy shit, shift actually worked out quite well in this little techno jumble here :number1

just about. Accord (k-series), TSX (K-series) and JDM Integra Type R all have a larger hub diameter. I believe all the rest will accept that D/B outter.
