# Honda S2000 questions

So a guy wants to trade me his S2000 plus cash. At first I wasn’t interested but I looked up what they’re selling for and was surprised to see a lot selling for a pretty good buck.
In the end, I’m looking for 20 grand in my pocket, but would consider driving this around for a few months.
Here’s the deal with the car:
It’s a silver 2003 with 68K on it. Title is clear.
It has a few mods, but also all the stock stuff (wheels, exhaust, suspension)
There are some scuffs and dents and a minor tear in the hardtop that looks to be poorly repaired. One of the wheels has a ding in it.
What’s a car like this going for?
Here are the mods:
SSR Type C RS Wheels in 17x7.5/9 on Hankook RS3s 225/255
Bilstein PSS9
Fujitsubo RM01a Catback
Forbidden USA Mugen Replica Hartop, with OEM replica rear catchers (this is nice for just simply flipping the handles back and off goes the hardtop)

My thought is maybe drive it around for the summer, maybe not, convert it back to stock, clean it up a bit, sell it for 12 or 13, then part the stuff away for a couple grand. He’d be throwing in 6000 bucks on top, so I’d need 14 in the end, which seems doable.

Probably a much better chance of getting the money you want if you sell it now, at the start of convertible season instead of at the end of summer when demand drops significantly for convertible RWD 2 seaters.

Yeah, I agree with that for sure. I’m just wondering if my logic on the pricing of it all would be right in the end.
Also to note there are 2 accidents on the car, under 1000 dollars damage for both.

has this guy ever taken a picture with the entire subject in the frame? how do people not know how to use a camera?
do those accidents show up on carfax?

i think its pretty smart. these have been holding value fairly well and the milage is reasonable to get a decent amount.
i borrowed one for a week a couple years back, it was fun too.
are there ways to repair the top better without replacing it? other than that, don’t do anything - clean it and sell it.

I think Evan will be fairly interested in this trade. He was really pining for an s2000 before he bought the Chevelle.

You will easily get the 20k you’re looking for maybe more. It would probably sell for 13-14 (during summer) easy and can be parted out as you said. Have you gotten any better offers ? S2000 is an easy sell

I’d say $13k without hardtop. $14k with hardtop. Those hardtops sell for a pretty penny.
Have you owned one or driven one? You may just end up keeping it longer than expected. Always puts a smile on the face when behind the wheel.

The only thing I would wonder is what were the 2 accidents? Could make resale harder?

Looks like fender to me if you follow the fender line down to the frame rails.

Does he have any photos showing the corners of the front bumpers? lol None of the photos show the bumper corners. Who offers a car and money and doesn’t take a full photo of the vehicle.

These pictures are terrible. If you’re going to take a picture of the seat, back up and get the whole seat. Same can be said for the car.
Is this trade involving your BMW? I didn’t see it mentioned what you were trading away, I just kind of assumed it was.
