# hood hinge breaking

I think that one of my hood hinges is breaking. Not sure If this has happened to anyone else. When I close the hood the passenger side sticks up about 1.5". I"m just wondering if this could be fixed with a little welding or should I get a new hinge. As far as I can see the bolts that hold the hinge to the frame are still secure, but the hinge itself seems to be flexing. Any ideas would help out a lot.

I think what you’re explaining is the same thing that happened to me. What happened is the pivoting part of the hinge wasn’t pivoting, it was seized. And when i would close the hood the hinge part mounted on the car would bend up. What i did was spray WD40 on the pivoting part to unseize it. Worked like a charm.

yeah this is a common prob. Just get anoter one from the junker.
But try WD-40 first.

lol… yeah i’ll try the lube first… if that fails then that’s one more thing for my list of things to fix…

lube always helps smooth out the process.
