# how do you fix a syncro?

how do you fix a syncro…i shift into to second and everytime except for low revs it just grinds away unless i double clutch…
help please

Your looking at a big job if uve never ripped a tranny apart before dude :S, and if its a KA tranny id almost recomend u finding an other one…a little more straight forward of a install 😛

Just swap the tranny it will be easier unless you are comfortable with the insides of a tranny… synrco’s aren’t hard but it will take you more time and maybe even more money then just swaping the tranny. Tranny swaps are quick and easy on the 240. You and a buddy should be able to do it in an afternoon.

Swapping is the way to go, but I’m still not convinced the tranny is to blame. The gear oil we used was fine, but we can add some friction modifier or swap it out for some redline or royal purple and see how it goes.
Have you had someone else drive it yet?

Make sure the clutch is thoroughly bled and adjusted properly, as these two things will cause gear grinding.

you cant fix syncro’s themselves. They always have to be replaced. Once you get into that your gona be spending mucho dollah.
ka tranny’s are not that complicated if you understand transmissions

syncros are not complicanted nor is are trannys. your will probably just need a new ring. but if the teeth are chipped then it gets $$ just put another tranny in.

who can do this??? because i knowi need an adjustment and bleeding done so if anyone can that’s be great!

If you haven’t put in Redline MTL yet… DO IT! I swear by that stuff… it has solved the grinding/ bad synro issues on 3 KA/SR trannies for me so far. It takes a week or so of being in the tranny before you start to notice a differance but with in a month its usually gone.

just adjust your Clutch properly and get some good Oil.
