^ is there any other places beside the dealer and roughly how much? hmm i m picking one up and i would like to know about the 120k tune up. the car has a problem and its that hte rad overheated. good thing is that it dind’t seize the engine. i am told that the cylinder comp test is around 120ish and normal is 160. i was also told to change head gasket. what are things i shud do cause i am new to the z’d =. ---

There is, such as Sumaru’s. They have extensive experience on these cars. Z32s can be very expensive cars to work on, but if you have competent people working on it, you’ll only pay once. Ericksen Nissan is also well recommended by the Z car club. Those compression numbers seem very low though. ---

I have a couple friends who have had their A/C recharged on their Zs, but it may take a few days to get an answer from them on what it cost them. But one was out of town which won’t be much help to you, the other went to a shop in town that specializes in A/C’s and rads I think. I can try to find out for you. I haven’t had to do mine yet so I won’t guess what it costs. As for the 120k mile service, its basically the same as the 60k mile service. There’s a big list of parts to replace. If you’re looking for a place to go, I’d highly recommend Ericksen Nissan. They have a couple technicians there that have extensive experience with Z32s, and have done the 60k/120k service on many Z Club members cars. Have you actually bought this car yet? You said “I’m picking one up”… honestly if you haven’t bought it yet, I’d pass… unless you’re getting it for a steal. Your compression numbers sound really bad, and you’re probably going to be in for some serious work. ---

120K service is going to run in the ballbark of $1400 (parts/labour). It’s a bit more than the 60K service as it will include: Crank spacers (front and rear), timing belt, camshaft/crankshaft seals, crank sprocket, Timing belt tensioner, timing springs and seals, top and bottom pully assembly idlers, water bypass hoses, water pump, water pump gasket, thermostat, belts (PS, A/C, Alternator). Good time to look at other maintenance at this time…plugs, injector seals and insulators. Intake gaskets, etc. While you have it at Erickson Nissan (as recommended by members) have them take a look for leaks, especially around the oil pan and rear main oil seal. This would also be a good time (save labour) to replace questional hoses (rad - lower flimsy hose can be replaced by an aluminum one), vacuum hoses and fuel lines. Fuel filter (regulator and dampner as needed). All this other stuff just adds to the original amount I stated and I haven’t even gone near the potential compression problem. If there is an issue there, you might be better off taking care of all of the above by way of engine rebuild. If you are looking to pony up a bit, this would be the time to install lightened pullies, etc… Not meaning to scare you but yeah…this is going to cost. It’s just a question of how much.
