So I’m trying to sell our family car that is nothing but headaches. I’ve put it up for $1600 (1998 Contour, 185K) but it isn’t attracting anyone. I’ve lost enough $ on it that I don’t want to keep it around any longer. Question is, what are my different options in getting rid of it (obviously not for $0) Latest issue to crop up? Something is loose under the horn cover and its randomly honking on turning. Freaked my sister out when it happened randomly today. :ugh: Anywho, would some dealers take it for a stupid low price? They can prolly spend like $800 fixing it up and make like 300% on it. Instant profit. Thanks ---

horn problem is probably loose change rattling around in the steering wheel, happened to me in the company truck (05 silverado) hey, i was messin’ around waitin’ in the drive-through line up, lol, never did get my toonie back from the mechanic… ---

some dealers will take it and give you credit if you buying a car from them… lol if not… i got rid of my 89 dynasty for 50 dollars… they came and towed it away to the crusher… ---

try posting it up in the autotrader for a lower price. Right now, it is free to list your car on autotrader.ca for 7 days. ---

He doesn’t want to keep it around any **longer**. What makes you think he will wait till spring comes…spend $100 for a track entrace fee, fuck up the car, and then just leave it at the track? I’m sure you’d have to pay someone to tow the broken car somewhere. The track isn’t a junkyard. And then try to find a ride home after all that… ---

sell it cheaper. i sold my wife’s plymouth breeze for $400 and it only took 4 hours on Kijiji. ---

Ive had the same VW golf for sale for MONTHES on Kijiji and on SON here…for 500$ price…noone seems intrested…it also wont start…so that could be the reason. ---

I’m not going to take it to the track. :ugh: You just wasted your time and mine to post that Why would I give it away for free? It’s obviously worth something. I spent $900 + $300 on it in the last maybe 4-months and maybe a couple grand more in the last couple years on stupid shit. I guess I’ll try posting it for a few hundred less. I want to get rid of it by spring since I will have 3-cars now and I don’t have the space to fit all 3. Ideally I want to replace it with a Civic hatch or something tiny for my sis to take to work. Right now I don’t trust the Contour even though she works like 15km away ---

Try a different tech. Or smash up derby/figure 8. Win some money with it. Thats a win win in my mind. dosn’t start? rig it up. derby it. win 1000…up to 10,000 everytime. bam. scrap the car. besides, it’s sooo much fun ---

try a used car dealer … u might have to add cash on top to get a civic … i dont think the dealer will give you more than $800 in credit for your car. ---

Well I pulled the fuse but the entire airbag canister is like loose (it’s sticking out of the wheel like maybe 1/2"). Fucking worst car ever. I tried pushing it back in but no go; don’t want the thing exploding in my face :o ---

Gonad you can do the following: 1. Post the car on kiji as best offer and see what you get 2. Park it somewhere like rexdale and actually wait for that insurance check 3. Beat it to shit and have a towing compny pay you to take it off your hands. IMO, best best is number 3. My buddy had a 1986 Audi 5000 and its exactly what he did… I don’t know how much they paid him though. ---

Around here (Niagara-Hamilton) there are sign’s posted on light posts everywhere. They advertise scrap car prices from 0$ - $2000. Not sure but I’m sure there are companies like this around your neck of the woods. ---

Your asking too much, it’s not even an SVT !!! +1 for the tape deck! Just drop the price, take the loss and get rid of it. It’s the fastest way.
