Your wrong there.
There are two different alternators, the s14 ones put out higher amps than the s13 one.
I’ve had both in my car.
And capacitors do increase the life of your alternator as long as you don’t have the music pounding all the time.
A cap should also stop your lights from dimming etc. if your alternator and battery are in decent working condition.

because if u have a shitty alternator and u turn the volume up, the alternator cant charge the battery fast enough to provide power for the all of the electronics and some amps out there are HC models so they draw out more power the louder the volume gets

Thanks everyone.
Do I really need capacitators? I’m gonna be running the speakers off the deck and a sub or 2 off an amp.
Will I be okay with just rebuilding this one or what should I do ?

You don’t need a cap.
You would probably be fine just replacing your alternator with a new/rebuilt one.

you are not going to need a Power Cap, Trustme, just get you Alt fixed and get yourself a nice Batter and you will not have any problems
really, meh o well I know the s13 was a 80amp and I was sure the s14 was the same,

We aren’t. You’re asking for advice over the internet. No one can properly diagnose your problem without seeing it.
btw, BEEN SOON, iirc, the s14 came with a 80 in the base and a 90 in the LE or something like that.
I know they have different part numbers.

Oh okay, so I’ll replace the alternator for now and if it runs fine then I’ll leave the batter, otherwise I’ll replace that too.
Umm, my buddy said you can get a “remanufactured” (built to OE spec or higher) alternator from CT for like 100 bucks.
Is it better to get that, or rebuild mine ?

If you can afford the downtime, then just get yours rebuilt, otherwise, go to crappy tire.

You do not need a cap, I was running a 2 12’s for over a year (after replacing my alternator and gettig a red top battery) and had no problems. As long as your batter and alternator are in good condition, you should be good. The cap as mentioned stores some current and supplies it when the power peaks, and when normally you would see the lights dim they won’t. It does slow down the wear on the alternator and battery but does not eliminate it.

SOrry to be annoying, but I’m new @ this stuff, so can someone explain to me why rebuilding mine is better than getting the one from CT ?

Just to add, crappy tire sells rebuild alternators, so I don’t see the difference other than the fact that they are rebuilt by Bosch.

It’s not but it would be cheaper to get it rebuilt yourself then buying a rebuilt one from crappy tire.
either way as long as it works then it doesn’t really make a difference where you get it or how much you pay.
