I’m thinkin Polak meant to say that high positive offset are ricey, since most rims would have positive offset anyway, it would just be lower on the good ones. ---

higher offset wheelsa re ricey on rwd cars, thats all i wanted to say. If u put a high offset rim on a civic, it looks the same as putting a really low offset rim on a 240sx. ---

You guys really shouldn’t post in the FAQ section if you have no idea what you are talking about. High offset on a Honda does not look like low offset on a 240. :arrow: High offset on a Honda looks like High offset on a 240. And Solarian, just because rims are “high” offset doesn’t mean that they are shit rims. Look at FDs, Zs, and Supras, research what the ideal offset is for those cars. The appropriate offset depends on the car. ---

Eee… I was just translating for him ☹ And yea, offset does depend on the car too, since ideally you wanna match the wheel to stick out as far as your fender is to make it nice and flush. If your fender doesn’t go out very far, you can’t run a wheel that stick out farther than it. That’s why in that thread you posted in Zilvia about the negative offset 12" wide rims the guy was looking for someone with a widebody to sell it to. I think the offset calculator that’s been posted here a bunch of times is the best tool for picking rims. My current wheels are 16_7.5 +30 and the ones I want are 17_8.5+22. This causes them to have 5mm less clearance inside and stick out another 21mm. Since I definitely have enough clearance inside to lose another 5mm they’ll clear my brakes, shocks & springs, but I’d also need to match the rubber such that the total diameter doesn’t increase or I’d need to do a fender pull to shove them in there. Finally, it’s not wise to spend a lot on rims until you’re absolutely sure they’ll clear the mods you want to do later. Since I intend to switchover to coilovers and Z brakes, I’m not buying rims till I do that first, and know for sure they’ll clear them. Even with this I can’t be totally sure that another 21mm won’t cause the rim to stick out, I’d need to measure. And it’s illegal if it sticks out. ---

There is more too it than just saying what an ideal offset would be. You have to take certain things into consideration such as suspension, brakes, width of wheel, width of tire, over fenders or fender flares, etc. Besides, I know what offset would be ideal for my s14, you should ask someone with an s13 for an ideal offset for an s13. ---

+30 on a 7.5" wheel looks allrite to me on my S13. It has a tiny bit of room that could be exploited with a lower offset for maximum flush-ness. I actually think it’d be a great idea if we posted our wheel width & offsets + pics and what kinda stuff they clear (Z brakes, coilovers, etc) ---

Your +30 is a bit high for an s13 I think. I always thought a decent offset for an s13 is between +0 and +15 (maybe +20). ---

Depending on what spacers I’m running I’m usually 17x8 +35 or +27 Either way they are still ricer offsets lol. If you want to look pimp get some 17x9 +15’s, stretch your tires and roll your fenders. ---
