Can hydraulic lifters cause a no compression situation, and if so, can they be bled by hand?

Do you mean no cylinder compression, or no compression of the hyd. lifter?

I’m not getting any cylinder compresison, and I believe that when the camshaft’s cam out of the car, extra oil go into the lifters, causing the valves not to close properly.

I did alittle more investigative work. I’m not sure if this is a problem or not, but the inntake camshaft lobes are not even hitting the lifters. There is about 1/4 inch a clearance between the two. I checked on the exhaust camshaft side, and every lobe is touching the lifters. Could this be why I am not getting any compression? Assuming this is the way it should be setup, the valves should in theory be closed, allowing for compression. I guess if I dont get a definitive answer, I will need to rip the head off the car and diagnos the issue from there. Here are some picture’s.

I have more time working on pushrod engines, but I would think that the valves would need to be completely open for you to have zero compression in all cylinders. Since you are thinking this is an intake vavle problem, I would also think that you would be able to hear pressure escaping through the throttle body, while your doing the compression test.

I also wonder why none of the lobes are touching on the intake side???

Well, after talking to someone more knowledgeable on the heads, it seems I have bent the intake valves. I’m assuming the crank went 180 degrees out, causing the issues. I can get a head for around 100 dollars shipped. I guess it’s time to start on engine work!

how the hell did that happen? i see what looks to be chain sprockets not a belt. did you rule out the possibility of floating the valves?
