Let’s say somebody was at work and wanted to play video games. There happens to be an extra landline phone hardly used. If somebody were to plug that phone line into their computer and use aol to connect, would it be possible for it to be traced? Would it show up on a phone bill or something as an “x” hours phone call or anything else? ---

At work? well - how big is the work place? You gotta remember that they can see where all outgoing calls are being made. ---

I figure the outgoing call to dial up would show, but would it show how long it was? It is a large company but I work at the IT hub of the whole thing, literally looking at servers. ---

depends on the phone software your company uses but im pretty sure its easily viewable how long each phone is on a specific call. like howie was alluding to, i can easily go through anyones history at my work and see who they called, when they called etc. its so bad we can even review the numbers punched… say if someone called their bank and put in their pin. yea you get the point :bloated: all in all its not worth playing wow on a 56k ---

Yea, but i’m just wondering what they would see. Basically the phone line is not used so thats not a big deal. But I don’t want then to know I was playing games or something. Could they possibly know what sites were looked at? ---

This phone is separate from our normal system. It would be used in case of emergency if all our other phones went down for some reason. I am just wondering what happens during dial up. Would a normal phone bill count minutes online as minutes on the phone? ---
