If the BRZ came with better tires/brakes/and a base WRX engine it would be an amazing value for the money.

I assume all those upgrades would stick in the 33-35k range

The way its currently designed its slow and unimpressive

Just because something weighs less then big slow dumb domestics doesn’t automatically make it magical and better

And we already determined the F150 is the MOST American made car and the highest selling vehicle in America.

I use to be import biased. But as long as it has a gas pedal, brake pedal, and steering wheel, and all three of those function with some sort of repeatability; give me the keys and I’ll drive it to the ragged edge. Saying a 3800lb car isn’t fun to drive at the limit is as ignorant as saying a 15 sec car isn’t fun to drive at the limit.

BRZ vs. 1LE:
Which is faster? 1LE
Which one would I drive on a roadcourse? 8 times out of 10 the 1LE, the other 2 times anything is a BLAST to drive at the limit.
Which one would I spend $34k on? The BRZ/FRS

> [@yamba6](#):
>
> Take the extra $9k and let see how much power we can put to the FRS.

And no. Take the $9k, , $1200 on 6 sets of brake pads, $1860 on 3 sets of 225 Direzza’s, and the remaining $5940 should get you through 18 track days.

Now, which is the better ownership experience, having a 1LE and talking about roadcourses, or the BRZ/FRS and actually doing track days?

I still dont see how there is much hate on the brakes. From my knowledge they came with bigger brakes/the wrx brake system on a smaller lighter car. I really believe the stopping problem is the tires and lack of traction. Maybe I’m wrong.

It is a conservative guesstimate based on a rare thing called experience. Race pad compounds usually last 3 track days, if driven proper amount of aggression. They last a little longer in endurance racing because the are up to temp for most of the duration. Maybe they will last 4-5 days at Nelson, maybe they will last 2 days at Gingerman. Maybe the FRS/BRZ is super, super easy on brakes and 4 sets will be enough.

In any case save a few hundred on brake pads and spend it on head gaskets.

This is the only way to buy a vehicle.

Does it have pushrods?

Also,
The internet tells me that the 5mt legacy gt weighs 3435.
But until I see it on scales I don’t believe what people claim for weights.

> Honest… **I really was excited to hear about the Mustang 2.3l turbo but wish the weight would come down. I would love the focus if we could get the euro one with the AWD**. I was really excited to hear about GM trying to compete against the BRZ/FRS but I haven’t heard much more about the cars. I believe it was the Code 130r. The Camaros are nice, they are doing a good job with them and definitely have a good look, I just dont need that big of a car when dealing with a sports style vehicle. And like stated, I love the new vette… my only beef is the rear bumper and how high they brought that black plastic up. It needs less of that and more of the painted bumper.

the focus never has, and never will be AWD. ford engineers have explored/tested it vs. a properly sorted FWD system and the FWD system with torque vectoring tech and revo-knuckle suspension performed better than an AWD variant in track testing. I can only hope the 2.3l ecoboost paves the way for a focus model ABOVE the ST…rumor has it an RS happens to be in the works.

> So you are comparing a $25k car to a $34k car. Take the extra $9k and let see how much power we can put to the FRS. They didn’t produce the FRS/BRZ to have power out of the factory, they made it as a car for people to do what they want to them starting at a low price for a sports car. Intake, Exhaust, tune… without a turbo and you already have about 250hp. Put a turbo on the car and return for another $4k, the car will probably produce 400hp. 400hp in a car that weight under 2800lbs sounds pretty enjoyable when comparing the money spent for the camaro and being able to build your own frs. Power to weight at this point, the FRS should have no problem.

Gee, that’s a great idea. Let’s sell an incomplete car for $25k, so that the enthusiasts will have coin left over to mod it how they want. We’ll sell boatloads of them!!!

Oops!

I guess people have no problem dropping $5k-$10k more and get the better car to begin with.

Funny thing is that a base Camaro or Mustang can be had for around $22k-$23k and still runs low 14’s and can pull near 30mpg.

Corvette production wasn’t up to full speed. You were lucky to find one at your local dealer. Even now they are tough to find.

When I went looking for a new SS I started looking at used ones from 2010-2012. I couldn’t find one under $28k. Even now, they are tough to find around $26-$27k. Not bad for buying a 2010 brand new for $35k, driving it for 4 years and trading it in, and have the dealer give you $25k for it.
