> Do you not understand the concept of putting money in savings? If you’re making $100k, I would sure hope that you’re putting away AT LEAST $1k/month into your savings. Then that leaves a measly $400 for food, going out, activities other than waxing your garage queen, etc… I mean, one saturday night with the wife and friends for drinks and dinner is like $200 at least.
>
> Man, this mentality of yours is EXACTLY why so many people in the country are riddled with debt. Stop focusing on financing stuff and manipulating your monthly payments and start focusing on savings and generating wealth.

So people who make 100k a year should put away 1k a month for the rest of their life’s, I get it now.

Apparently investing in an exotic car that probably won’t depreciate and most likely will become more valueble over time is a terrible idea.

> Between 401k,IRA,Brokerage,additional principal on mortgage I save about 35-40% of what I earn. I would assume many in the income range you are talking about have similar habits. So it isn’t that they “waste” it is simply not the priority although I do spend a lot of my “discretionary” funds on cars not everyone has that same level of interest. So you are right in that many could afford it on that salary range it simply comes down to lifestyle choices and priorities. I don’t necessarily think spending on say a Lambo is a bad choice for anyone just for MOST it doesn’t hit that level of priority over say you childrens education, a bigger home, vacations, etc etc.

Exactly, I’m not saying its the best idea and that everyone should do it. And everyone has their own lifestyle choices.

Realistically whatever Lambo you’re looking at isn’t gaining value so its not an investment.

If anything you’re buying something with a lower rate of deprecation.

I wish I could find the article I think it was on jalopnik this guy bought his dream car a Lamborghini diablo. He crashed it in the rain because he didn’t want to put new tires on the rear or something stupid and then had to repair everything, and he talks about the maintenance and said to go after market for brakes and what not. He made it seem not that bad to maintain as long as you prepare for it.

It doesn’t have to be a lambo, pretend its a car similar that people like lol seems like everyone’s hates lambos.

Yeah then maybe they should buy a classic muscle car 😕

Buy a civic and put lambo doors on it. Close enough.

Investing in cars, solid way to build financial stability.

I wish my wife would buy into this investment strategy. “Babe, I’m going to stop putting money into savings and buy a Lamborghini. It’s rare, so that’s basically just money in the bank.”

it all comes down to somebody like @Wahoo can buy the car without it being a bad investment, they just can’t ever drive it.

> That $1,420 was after the car payment and the 2k mortgage, which if you have a mortgage that large then yeah you shouldn’t do the lambo.
>
> Without kids and a drug addiction I think $1,420 is plenty of money left since the 2 largest bills have been paid, and all my numbers were estimates, high estimate on the mortgage and on the taxes.
>
> Thats not leaving much left for maintenance though, so save 20k first, don’t put it as a down payment, use it for maintenance. Then save each income tax return for maintenance and what not as well. Then when it’s paid off you don’t have the payment and now can use that money for maintenance.

If someone who makes $100,000 a year thinks it’s a good idea to buy a car and have a $1,500/month car payment on a used exotic car, they don’t have enough self control to save up $20,000.

$1,400 after your car payment and mortgage is paid, isn’t shit. That’s $300/week. That’s having a nice house, a nice car and living your life as if you made minimum wage. Sounds horrible.

^ + a billion to this. Just added up where my wife and I are after mortgage and car payments and fucking lol’d at thinking 1400/month was a good number “left” to live on. Hope you really love that lambo because you’re going to be doing nothing but looking at it while you eat Ramen noodles from the BJ’s bulk pack every night.

Don’t get me wrong, I am too. Paying down student loan debt in an expedited fashion and all that certainly makes it feel pretty uhh… ‘normal’ I guess. I won’t be Lambo shopping anytime soon.

i make 38k a yr do people read? I won’t be buying a lambo probably ever. It’s funny I’ve never had so many quote alerts ever before.

After my bills are paid I probably have $1,300 left each month and I only put 3% of my pay into my 401k, man I guess I’m never gonna make it and should just kill myself now
