yea, I had people interested in the 2.5-3k range… Once most of them fell through/flaked and my situation became a bit more urgent this is what happened.

STOP PAYING FOR THINGS UP FRONT!!
with painters you give them a check for 25% up front 25% once primed 25% once painted and 25% once wet sanded and buffed. Hell i have never been to a painter that i didnt pay once the job was completed. Friend or new acquaintance.
Never giving anyone more than $200 for anything unless you have it documented or on a credit card you can dispute the transaction with. I honestly don’t care if you were even dealing with me I would want you to take the same steps.
as for the douche and the impreza, give him the starter thats worth about $200

I assure you that there is more to the story with the paint guy that he said to get me to pay $200 for supplies… and as you said 200 is the limit. I refused to give the guy anymore when he continued to ask.

Its kinda funny that he’s selling it. He probably could have profited just as much by doing the work for me as per our original agreement before he ‘couldn’t find a motor.’
Quarter panels came out great though, all in all the paint looks mint now.

What really pisses me off is that the ONLY reason why I didn’t fix it to drive it again myself is because this guy led me on telling me that he could be hired to fix it and that he would find a motor for it. After months with no car of my own, having my fiance drive me around and borrowing cars from my parents I was left with no choice but to sell it and buy a car that I could drive.
I posted a response to the thread:
