I picked up my new mistress yesterday around 5pm and by 5pm today she was completely apart… lol. Nothing too major as far as mods go, but just a few. And the best part was that not a penny was spent… lol. All parts used were parts I had laying around the garage. Rear fender eliminator with 05 R6 integrated tail light (was sent an extra one when I got the one for my R6 and decided to see how it would look). The plate ‘mount’ is temporary because I had to get the bike back together to head to Lake George tomorrow and had to get it legal. I had a few small LED strips left over from the R6 and I have always loved the look of LED’s on a bike with chrome… especially when they are done correctly (no actual LED’s visible). So I threw the 4 small strips I had left over onto the bike just to see if I’d like it before spending the money on more strips. So far I kinda like it. Last but not least… my favorite. I pretty much spoiled myself by having the garage door opener on the R6 and it was getting pretty annoying having to get off the bike to open the door every time I got home. However, I didn’t want to mount any buttons and wanted to keep everything as factory looking as possible. So I searched and searched until I found a garage door remote that used a 12 volt battery. It happened to be a 3 button remote so I took one of the buttons and soldered the 2 terminals coming off the switch together (top right of pic). ![http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f367/offroadzj/2012%20Stryker/2012-06-22_18-43-28_898.jpg](http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f367/offroadzj/2012%20Stryker/2012-06-22_18-43-28_898.jpg) I then soldered 2 wires to the battery ‘terminals’ of the remote (red to positive, black to negative), drilled 2 small holes in the end of the case, and ran the wires through the case so it would be put back together. ![http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f367/offroadzj/2012%20Stryker/2012-06-22_18-44-14_843.jpg](http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f367/offroadzj/2012%20Stryker/2012-06-22_18-44-14_843.jpg) ![http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f367/offroadzj/2012%20Stryker/2012-06-22_18-50-37_28.jpg](http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f367/offroadzj/2012%20Stryker/2012-06-22_18-50-37_28.jpg) I tucked the opener up under the plastic panel at the front of the tank so its 100% hidden away but doesn’t have too much in front of it to interfere with the signal. The wires ran up along the factory harness and into the headlight housing. ![http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f367/offroadzj/2012%20Stryker/2012-06-22_19-17-53_858.jpg](http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f367/offroadzj/2012%20Stryker/2012-06-22_19-17-53_858.jpg) And finally, I wired the positive and ground into the headlight ground and high beam wire. ![http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f367/offroadzj/2012%20Stryker/2012-06-22_19-58-35_722.jpg](http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f367/offroadzj/2012%20Stryker/2012-06-22_19-58-35_722.jpg) So now when I pull up to the garage I just have to simply flash my high beams quick and it will power up the ‘shorted’ garage door remote which sends the signal to open the door. Because the remote only sends one signal no matter how long you hold the button, I can leave the high beams on or just flash them. The door will only activate once per ‘flash’. I am very happy with how everything came out so far. I will probably pick up a few more LED strips eventually but for now I want to enjoy her for a while… and save up for the Vance & Hines. I just had to take care of those few items because they were bugging me… lol. And the best part??? NO GAUGES!!! :crackup ---

Yea. I’m glad I took the time to find a 12volt remote… that way I could hardwire it to the factory switch and not have to add an ugly button anywhere. Its nice and ‘stealth’ ---

The garage door opener would even be cool on a classic car or something of that nature. The high beam idea was great. Neighborhood thieves are gonna be flashing lights at your garage forever! LoL ---

I’m trying to get an idea of the amount of interest and if I have enough, I may start building the circuit (soldering the circuit board, attaching wires, and including a wiring diagram / instructions) and selling it as a ready to install kit… its great for motorcycles and pretty good for all cars as well (makes it cleaner to not have an ugly opener hanging around). ---
