Thats actually a Tomei cluster. Very nice for sure but I dont think its a bolt on like the regular jdm clusters are, i think there’s some wiring to be done not 100% sure tho.

I have a feeling Tomei only sells the actual speedometer unit…

you take apart your nissan cluster, take the oem speedo out, and replace it with the tomei

ill look into this some more and see if i can dig anything up

the post is from 2004

translation:

[I found it on] Ebay search, but it’s a rare piece. There was also a digital cluster with HUD, but I thought that looked too close to the [Renault] Twingo.

As for the price, I shelled out 200 euros, expensive but I don’t regret it.

For reading speed, it’s not just a decal glued onto the unit, it has all the electronic bits behind.

The only small difference, and I mean really tiny, is that when lit, the color pulls a bit onto the clear blue. But you have to know it. [don’t ask me wtf this means]

Cool but for the price you can get a DEFI HUD. The german clusters are all overpriced and good luck finding a tomei one for cheap.

zeroyon has a write up on changing it to 180mph,

add 1 ressisitor…

LSautomotive sells 180mph ones, unsure if they have metric faces yet…

PS: you’ll need some oversized tires to get anywhere over 250km/h, or a different rear end…

really, when do the gears run out of steam with stock ratios…?
not 148mph… around there…

How will I learn if you won’t correct me… Please expand…

my speedo only goes to 180km/h and the needle stops around the 6 (if it were a clock face)

Aside from the fact that speedo’s read faster than you’re actually going at those speeds…

…Scott’s described top speed looks pretty accurate.

On paper it would be:

7400rpm, 0.759 tranny final, 4.083 final, 24.69" tire diameter = 175mph

</div>

The other thing to consider though is that no stock KA will rev to 7,400 RPMS…only 6,900 RPM’s on the DOHC for example, the SOHC being even less. So that’d bring the top speed down some.

0.759 is 5th gear in a KA24DE tranny. 0.838 is SR tranny 5th. im too lazy to re-calculate it though.

Ah… yeah I tried looking for the S13 SR numbers but couldn’t get them anywhere. (Do you have a good source btw?)

So KA has less rpm but taller 5th gear…

SR with 0.838 would be 160mph at 7500 RPM

KA with 0.759 would be 161mph at 6800 RPM

Actually…

0.838 is the CA18 5th gear…

0.759 is the SR20/KA24 5th gear…
