[NYT suggests AT&T is taking the heat for iPhone’s shortcomings](http://www.boygeniusreport.com/2009/12/14/nyt-suggests-att-is-taking-the-heat-for-iphones-shortcomings/) > One of the companies, Global Wireless Solutions, “covered more than three million miles of roads this year, while running almost two million wireless data sessions and placing more than three million voice calls,” and after compiling all this data concluded that, “AT&T’s data throughput is 40 to 50 percent higher than the competition, including Verizon.” A second company, Root Wireless, “ran 4.7 million tests on smartphones for each of the four major carriers, spread across seven metropolitan areas: Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles/Orange County, New York, Seattle/Tacoma, the San Francisco Bay Area, and Washington.” Root Wireless came to the conclusion that, “in every market, AT&T had faster average download speeds and had signal strength of 75 percent or better more frequently than did Verizon.” Note that San Francisco and New York City are included in that list. The camera on the 3GS still doesn’t have a flash. Blackberry cameras are much better, though they’re all still cell phone cameras so who cares? ---

HSPA is faster than EVDO rev A, by about the % those tests found. However, you will find EVDO rev A in more places throughout the country. And the otterbox cases are amazing. Fry: the pictures taken with my tour look pretty good normally. ---

I have pictures on my phone that I took when I had my BB and pics send from my wife’s 3GS. So for camera comparison… Taken with Tour: _ **Lincoln monument** _ Taken with e71: _ **cat on leopard print cushion** _ Taken with 3GS iPhone: _ **cat sitting on table** _ Actually my e71x takes really crappy pictures. 3GS is a little better. The Tour was by far the best. ---

Eh iPhone is best for non weiners I think. It requires absolutly no effort to use. Bbs seem weird and nerdy. I despise apple products, but they really did an incredible job with the phone. The apps are better, it’s nice to look at, solid as shit (4 buttons = nothing to break). ---
