# Ignition Switch for 1998 sr20det

So, my ignition switch died. the guys at JDM auto came to take a look, they ordered a sr20det ignition switch for $160, and said it will take 6 hours to install… (so 400 bucks). (They said they have to take out all the wires, including alarm system and so on…)
That sounds really steep to me. Would a 1995-1998 Nissan 240sx - OES Genuinie Ignition switch ($31.95) work?? and get a reasonable quote for the installation?

WTF? Is your car a 240sx? This makes no sense.
DO IT YOURSELF. Fuck. Should take like an hour if you’re a total retard.

Yeah this shouldn’t be too hard. Why do your harnesses need to removed?

ya, its a 95 240sx, with a sr20det. just need to know if i can use an ignition switch for a 95 240sx, or does it hae to be specific for a sr20

You need one for 240sx. That’s what your car is. It doesn’t matter if your car has SR. Ignition is part of your chassis harness, not engine.
Tell that shop they eat dicks as well as sits on them.

400 Bucks is a rip-off got to think nicely on installing a new [Ignition Switch](http://www.thepartsbin.com/autoparts/ignition_switch.html) to the car for the labor.
