Actually, Warm it up and pound the shit out of it with lots of engine braking in between. I have seen the best results using this method. Just need to make sure that your tune and engine vitals are all in spec. Otherwise pound the hell out of it. You must have proper crank case evacuation for this to work correctly. I have seen 0-1% leakdown on every engine broken in this way taken at different mileages. Take it on the highway and use 30-50-75-90% throttle at different loads and engine brake the shit out of it. That is all 🙂

Well…he got the “pound the shit out of it” part right! I think he missed the engine braking part, to suck the fresh oil onto the rings. Apparently the tune wasn’t so good either, oh well, he got 33% right.

Ok, like carnut, and the other guys who own or manage shops we deal with “unhappy” customers from time and time again.

Here is my first question:

When you left the shop and changed gears the first time did it grind?

2nd question:

If it did grind, did you turn around and ask them to take a look at it?

3rd

How many miles were on the tranny? 40k?

Here is the way I look at it. If the car was grinding gears the minute you got in the car and changed the gears the first time, you should have brought the car back to the shop and asked what was going on. If you had the car for a week and then the cars tranny started to act up, then the shop is not at fault.

Wow, Way to burn bridges across the entire state and many others. Congradulations on never getting your car worked on by a decent shop ever again.

Enough of this crap. Mondi you are an idiot. Stop trying to pass the buck. Fix your own damn tranny, New Era isn’t responsible for it.
