# Images to digital format...VHS to Divx

I am starting a little project. I have several albums with family pictures from the last 60 years. I am looking for suggestions on how to get the best quality from these photographs and make the images digital. Does anyone here have a scanner or suggestion on a scanner? Something that will do regular 3x5 photos.
Also I need to get several VHS movies off the tape and maybe to divx format. Is divx the best compression and quality these days? Anyone here have dazzle? I am looking for maybe an external solution. Suggestions would be nice from those who have done this in the past.

no divx is nto the best, straight VHS to DVD transfer… no compression…
As far as scanning, scanners are cheap, take your pick

Any specific software you recommend? Card?
