So it looks like Infiniti is changing their naming structure to all Qs:

But more importantly they’re going to be focusing less on volume and more on quality and elevating the brand:

> [@de Nysschen](#):
>
> “I need some time; I don’t need the volume pressure. What I’ll give you ultimately is a premium brand. And somewhere, by developing a premium brand, you’re not going to be disappointed by the profitability and the volume that comes.”

And this is kinda cool:

> De Nysschen says a production version of the Essence concept supercar is a possibility, as is a larger-than-M model, although it’s unclear in what segment that car would be positioned.

So maybe we’ll see this after all (the most amazing dashboard I’ve seen: )

That is one fantastic cluster!

Boo to the new naming structure though. I liked it when the numbers held relevance.

Nobody really pays a ton of attention, but Infiniti makes a GREAT luxury car. My parents just got the 2013 QX, and it’s super pretty baller. 400hp to boot.

With that said, I’m not sure I understand the new naming convention.

After having a bit of seat time in a 2012 G37x coupe I feel like infinti is pretty cheap and not very baller.
Nav/radio interface was shit. Seats make your ass numb on road trips. Ride quality really isn’t fantastic.
Actually my VW feels nicer inside.

That rear view ain’t bad either. 🙂

I thought the original G35 coupes were some of the most elegant designs I’d seen out of Japan since the FD. The current cars, eh.

All “Q” naming convention is retarded. Ask Lincoln how their group-name structure’s working.

had the exact opposite experience with the car noted above, but then again, it costs almost 2x what the G coupe costs. Super plush, touch screen nav, tons of cool technology, etc…

> We’ve known since mid-December that Infiniti’s new global model naming convention would turn the current-generation G37 Coupe into the Q60 Coupe starting next year, but we haven’t been clear on whether the model-range-formerly-known-as-G would get a successor, especially as its volume has traditionally been a lot lower than its sedan counterpart.
>
> Thankfully, Infiniti president Johann De Nysschen (above) has stepped up to confirm that the newly revealed Q50 sedan will receive a two-door counterpart, though perhaps not as quickly as some would like. According to an interview with Australia’s [CarAdvice.com](http://CarAdvice.com), De Nysschen says “the coupe we can probably expect two-and-a-half to three years down the road.” That news also suggests that if there’s an eventual convertible version, that it’s a long way off, too. Why so long? Infiniti has “a lot of priorities” – priorities that undoubtedly include an already-confirmed front-wheel-drive small hatchback/crossover.
>
> The report also indicates that Infiniti has some aspirations for stretching its new Q50/Q60 range in a higher-performance direction to take on competitors like BMW and Audi, the latter being De Nysschen’s former employer. There’s far from a firm timetable offered, of course, with De Nysschen saying “someday in the future we will be able to offer more high performance versions [of Q50] than we have today… the dynamic capabilities of this platform are very significant. It can handle far higher power than the engines we are using at launch.”

I was happy with my Infiniti and could definitely consider another but there are so many little things and some big things about the BMW’s that are just worth it. when you get into this price range the dollars don’t matter as much as getting exactly what you want.
