I had one of my cheap ebay 3k bulbs die so I decided to replace with a cheap ebay set of HIDs
H7, 5000k temp, $30
one side installed:
both installed:
with headlight on:
and her is the kit / guy I got them from on ebay:

Looks great! I have been wanting to do projectors and HIDs in my forester xt. Love the car but the light output is sub par.

these xentec kits are super small and have been getting good reviews and have two year warranties on both bulbs and ballasts.
not bad for $32 shipped!

nope… and my research said it doesn’t matter for the fogs on my A3. If it did throw an error I’d just solder in a resistor to make it happy.

I had a 55w kit in my fogs for my V1. Just ordered a 55w kits for the V2. Nothing like having the extra output for when you need it.

I have 55s in my BMW, not sold on a large noticeable difference in range, is anything it’s a little whiter per temp. Then again, range is mostly defined by cutoff and aim these days.

I just bought 2 sets of these; installed a set in my fog-lights yesterday on my '04 Grande Cherokee. Holy shit… I don’t even need headlights anymore.
Haven’t installed into my headlight yet as I don’t have projector housings yet, and I’m not doing that without it.
Kit was packaged nicely, simple and easy. Installation was plug-and-play. Instructions were very basic, but if you have any simple knowledge of cars it’s easy. Bulbs looked to be of good quality, and with the 2-year no questions asked warranty even if they do blow it sounds like it will be replaced without issue.

to be clear, are you talking about the xentecs or DDMs?
small update:
one of my ballasts died over the winter probably because I mounted them so low and they got wet so many times. I emailed the seller and they sent me another ballast with no questions asked and without requiring me to send the dead one back. I’ve mounted them higher up now.
