# Installing Water Temp Gauge

I searched couldnt find muhc on this topic…
im installing an aftermarket water temperature gauge, and the wires it has are
green-temp sensor(signal wire) can i hook this up to the stock gauges wire? and if so which wire is it?
red- acc on i dont know what that is?
white is the night lamp-where would i hook that up in the cluster?
black is the ground
orange goes to positive on the battery
so for the three i dont know could someone help me out here pls!
its gonna be fairly simple but i just want to make sure i do it right

Not every gauge will have the same volt curve so the calibration would be off.
You will need a temp sender from the same company that made your gauge.
Here’s how I did mine. Pics galore.

Most gauges only have 3-terminals on the back of the gauge;
- +12v switched
- Ground
- Signal
For example (black = ground, green = 12v, and the terminal not hooked
is where signal wire from temp. sender will go)

i have the little temperature sensor probe
if i can install it into my rad hose then how does the probe work? how does a wire hook up into it?

if there is a single wire then your probe needs to attached to something metal -ie grounded, so your hose idea won’t work.
for the acc (swithed power) and lighting the easier place to steal a signal from is the deck. just tap in that part of the harness.
as for yoru probe/signal wire… without pictures I don’t anyone cna tell what you’re talkin’ about.
and the probe works by changing it’s resistance as the temperature changes.

ACC is accessory. I belive you can grab that off the main thick wiring coming down from your ignition. Its a blue wire…just double check it with a DVOM or test light. It should have no voltage when the cars off…and 12v when the keys turned one click and when its in the run position. Im pretty sure on that. You’ll see the following wires where this blue one should be: A thick white wire…some black ones with red and white stripes and i think a red and yellow one.
