# Intel vs AMD

This more pertains to integrated graphics. Assume 4g of SSD2 RAM.
which is a more preferable solution:
Intel with the 4500 integrated graphics accelerator
AMD with the 3200 ATI Radeon integrated unit
both processors would be 2.0-2.4ghz
I do no gaming whatsoever, the occational DVD watching, office-type documentation, pdf files, research, so nothing graphics intensive
an aside: if i have 3d rendered anatomy programs, is a stand alone GPU a better idea?

AMD if youre forcing yourself into integrated video.
The Intel 4500 is very, very poor. The AMD 3200 is only very poor. The margins are very minimal here, however.
I would never consider using either of them in a computer for any purpose, whatsoever.
Your average $50 video card will outperform them many times over. Then you wont be struggling to play youtube ‘HD’ videos.

Stand alone GPU is always a better idea,I’d say it wouldn’t be worth it if you were just doing basic computing,being that you mention 3D rending I’d say its worth it.
But that’s not really a AMD vs Intel Debate,more of a onboard vs card debate.
AMD seems like they’re back on track with processors now,according to the toms hardware benchmarks.

i wouldnt be doing the rendering persay, but the programs i have avalible to me have pretty cool layering features ect, and i dont know how graphically intense that is.

forgive me, im not very tech savvy…
if the motherboard has an integrated graphics card, what does that do when an external GPU is installed? I suppose I would much rather pick up a laptop with a card already in it, drivers installed ect

You just disable the onboard video when you add a real video card in it.

I assume you’re looking at laptop integrated graphics… MHD4500 is going to perform very poor, like ZOMGVTEK said, and Radeon 3200 is still poor but significantly better, so go with that.

yeah like i said, im trying to just address my needs with a computer. i started out wanting every feature possible, but then i realized i probably need less than what im looking at. haha WAY too many toys out there to have
and to reiterate… 0 gaming. the most complicated thing it might do is a 3d anatomy program with layering

Thank God haha. I was freaking out about it but finally pulled the trigger and am very happy. You can always swap the minipci card out in the laptop, or put an external n card in there if you want it.
Do you already have an N router?
I’m waiting for the N standard to become final before I buy the hardware.

There is no point to buy a wireless N router unless you are looking for network coverage.
Anytime someone tells me that G is too slow for thier home internet I want to punch them in the face.

The guy at best buy said G is too slow so it must be true :shrug:
