I’m thinking first gen S-10 right now because that is what I have access to without taking parts off my ‘good’ truck or car…

I was helping a family member move over the weekend and my uncle Gary was there. I had been meaning to ask him about buying a bulk sheet of red translucent plastic to make a bed cover for my truck (he owns a large industrial plastic manufacturing company). So I got to talking and I asked how easy would it be to make a mold from a complete piece (hood) and he said that is exactly what he does. He even said he made a clear hood for a kid one time! He said that one of the local stereo shops has even contracted him out to do custom speaker boxes in clear acrylic on a few occasions. So if there is any interest in plastic hoods/rear windows/other things I will investigate into it further. I doubt it could be perfectly color matched but could be translucent colors or clear or paintable. Any other ideas?

Also, I did not ask about cost. I would do that once I was more serious about moving on with something like this.

Roughly how heavy would a plastic hood be? Much heavier than a fiberglass one, I’m guessing.
